Another year, another Call of Duty game. This year’s installment is titled Black Ops 4 and seems to return to the futuristic gameplay and style of the previous Black Ops titles. The short gameplay trailer showed off CoD’s signature fast-paced shooting combined with a handful of tactical gadgets such as deployable barricades, proximity cluster grenades, and the return of the classic attack dogs.
While nothing in the trailer seems to be too fresh or interesting, Activision also announced the addition of a new Battle Royale mode titled Blackout. While details are scarce at the moment, the Blackout trailer hinted at a large map filled with locales and Easter Eggs beloved to the entire franchise. While the Battle Royale genre is hardly anything ground-breaking, it will be interesting to see Activision’s take on arguably the most popular gaming genre out there currently.
Unlike previous installments, Black Ops 4 will primarily focus on multiplayer, Blackout, and Zombies and will not ship with a standard single player campaign.
Black Ops 4 releases October 12th, 2018.
