Fortnite launches on the Nintendo Switch! It can be played against other players using iOS, Mac, PC, and Xbox One. Sounds great, right? There is just one problem: If your Epic account was used to play Fortnite on a PS4, you will be blocked from using your account on your shiny new Nintendo Switch. The reverse also applies. If you used your Epic account on your Nintendo Switch, you cannot use it to play Fortnite on your PS4.
For many in this predicament, you will have received the following error on your switch if you’ve played on the PS4 previously: “This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch.”
If you played on your Switch and try to login to PS4, you will receive this error: “The Epic Account you tried to link can not play on this platform.”
Sony has not been known to always play nice with cross-platform gaming, but this is getting a little ridiculous. If you wish to play, you will have to create a new account which will then cause you to lose all of your progress, an integral part to the game. As fury rises amongst Fortnite players, will it be enough to persuade Sony? This remains to be seen.
